Our MISSION.......
We provide brand new custom eyewear to our community regardless of their financial situation.
The WHY.......
The majority of people – 90% -- affected by poor vision live in the developing world. In many instances, they simply cannot get hold of a pair because of financial situations. That means a staggering 2.5 billion people who need glasses in the world, don't have them.
Helping our community to see is about so much more than just health. It’s about the future of our children, because a child who cannot see a blackboard cannot get a decent education; it’s about productivity, because if you cannot see clearly, it’s difficult or impossible to work. Then above all it's about the mental health and dignity of the individual to feel confident, productive and self-sufficient.
Our HISTORY......
Our founder is an ABO Certified Optician and has been in the field for over 16 years. She has seen the need over the years for an organization that would be able to provide funds to offer community members the opportunity to obtain prescription eyewear regardless of their financial abilities.
Donations to the foundation will be available to be accessed by various community organizations for members within their organization. Those individuals will be asked to fill out a short application for an eyeglass voucher. The application will then go to the board to be approved depending on what funds are available at the time. Once approved, the member is contacted by a local optical shop that we have partnered with and asked to come in for their personal eyeglass styling appointment.
Here is where the magic happens, the voucher recipient then gets to go in and be treated like everyone else and have the opportunity to choose from any frame in the store and have open options on lens materials and choices based on their prescription.
We are true believers that a good pair of glasses that fits well and reflects a person's personality in style, can change a person's confidence in life and we want to make that difference with the Spring into Sight Foundation!
